Ever Been to an Ice Carving Competition? This One Is Sure to Blow Your Mind!

This Saturday, break out of your usual routine and head to Downtown Cripple Creek for the annual Ice Festival! The Cripple Creek Ice Festival is a spectacular event. Come watch ice sculptors carve ice into beautiful works of art that will amaze you. Don’t miss it on February 15th beginning at 10:00 a.m.

2020 marks the 13th year for this premier event. Past themes have included Mythological Wonderland, Story Time, Under the Sea, Military Salute Carved in Ice, Rocky Mountain Wonderland, the Old West and Safari. This year’s theme is Carver’s Choice!

The Cripple Creek Ice Festival features numerous fun events to enjoy throughout the two event weekends. Interactive sculptures are available for event attendees to climb on for a selfie or group photo. And don’t forget the ice slide for kids! Street vendors have just the perfect thing to bring home as a memento of your visit here, and you can enjoy refreshing beverages in a heated beer tent.

All ice carvings will be completed by February 16th. Sculptures will remain upon Bennett Ave until February 28 if the weather is cool. People are welcome to view the carvings the week of February 10 – 14th the but vendors will only be present during the weekend. The sculptures will be lit up at night for those who would like to visit in the evening.

Also, don’t miss the Ice and Art Fest at the Heritage Center from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily throughout Ice Fest. Hors-d’oeuvres and wine will be served, along with live music. Cripple Creek Ice Festival will run until February 16th. Transit service to the event from the Heritage Center is FREE for 60 and over and only $1.00 per person under 60.
